I grew up in hawaii for almost 24 yrs. I was born in guam and deaf by mother's sickness during pregnant. Wrong medicine.  That's how I became deaf inside of pregnant.   I was in hearing mainstream using sign language SEE and using total communication until middle school transferred to deaf school HCDB.  I graduated from Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind.  I'm class of 99. I became influence asl.  I'm pretty good with asl.

I went college ntid for 2 years my major was a.c.t. Applied computer of technology.  I withdrawal college and end up work in hcdb. I've experienced involve with deaf clubs such as youth leadership camp, jrnad, sbg, asain deaf club and kuli rainbow club.

My hobbies are reading comics and some books, art, computer custom made, basketball, swimming body board, and video games.

Plan try martial arts, dance class and surfing (see if I have time)

I enjoy much there.

Vice President
: Stephen Laracuente

Aloha!  I have lived in Hawaii since 1988.  I moved here from New York City (where I was born and raised) because I married a local girl, Margaret (Ouchi) Laracuente.  I worked as a teacher of the Deaf from 1988 to 1998.  I was the first Deaf person to complete principal training in Hawaii.  For now, I'm just holding my certificate in case an Administrator is needed at HCDB and they cannot find anyone who is qualified (who can sign!).  For now, I am the Student Services Coordinator (SSC or "VP") at the Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind (HCDB or HSDB).

In the meantime, I have been involved with ASAD, first as an observer and then later became Treasurer.  I was President during the time that Georgia Morikawa passed away in 2001.  After 2001, my focus was on keeping ASAD alive.  In 2005, I became the Treasurer again and now in 2007, I am supporting Jonah Carino, a former student of mine, as Vice President.  ASAD is doing well these days.  We have raised $10,000 per year for the last 2 years thanks to Laura Raiola and her connection to E.K. Fernandes' Carnivals.  The Deaf Community's support is also back.  ASAD Membership is going up as ASAD begins to move forward.
