Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind

Date Established:
Current site opened in 1918. The school has had several names, including: Territorial School for Defectives: Territorial School for the Deaf and the Blind, Diamond Head School, Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind, Statewide Center for Students with Hearing and Visual Impairments, and currently the Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind (since September 1995).

Scope of Program:
It is the purpose of the Center to provide and promote strong educational programs and services for students who are deaf, heard-of hearing, blind, partially-sighted, or deaf-blind, including students listed above with multiple disabilities. Services may be provided either on-site or through provision of technical assistance throughout the state. Students age 3 to 20 are served.
